In this session, 11 bit studios will present a case study on designing and implementing a flexible framework for AI characters in a TPP stealth-action title using Unreal Engine.
They will go through how they approached each stage and the different challenges they had to overcome, focusing on why and how to combine different AI techniques like behavior trees, state machines, utility theory, and rule-based systems into a cohesive framework in Unreal Engine that has all the advantages but none of the disadvantages of each of those techniques, and what new considerations it might create.
